Mission: The Build America’s School Infrastructure Coalition (BASIC) is a diverse national coalition united in advocacy for a robust and reliable federal role in modernizing the nation's public school buildings and grounds.

Vision: All communities have inspiring, safe, healthy, sustainable, and modern public school buildings and grounds.

Who We Are: BASIC is made up of public and private organizations and companies, including education, health, environmental, climate, civic, industry, and labor organizations, representing a wide range of constituencies across the country.

Our Successes: Since 2016, BASIC has advanced federal policies and funding to support state and local leaders with their education infrastructure responsibilities. For example, BASIC was a leading voice for the inclusion of school facilities needs as allowable use of 2021 American Rescue Plan funding, the establishment of the $500 million Renew America’s Schools program funded by the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the 2023 establishment by the U.S. Department of Education of the National Center on School Infrastructure and the Supporting America’s School Infrastructure grants to support state capacity.
